Maureen Clark - Columbus Open Studio & Stage

Part of the 400 Square family, Chromedge is a group studio site where you’ll find six COSS artists. You can park on the street (all spaces are at this time unmetered), in the gravel lot on Lucas and Rich (free), or the parking structure behind River & Rich off McDowell (small fee). While the building address is on Walnut, you will enter via the large overhead door on Rich, where you will be greeted by a volunteer with a map of the COSS participating studios within Chromedge. Be sure the visit my fellow 400 Square artists while you’re here!

Maureen Clark is a full-time professional acrylic painter based in Columbus’ Franklinton Arts District. Travel, exploration and daily environmental studies developed her unique perception. Her work is exhibited in galleries and exhibitions in the Midwest and includes public and private commissions and mural work.

My paintings are a mix of urban and nature inspired works. I apply the paint in many layers, starting broad and ending with more detailed impressions. The brushstrokes are applied thick and loose, with emotion and intent. With the application of the brushstrokes, I mean to convey movement within the canvas itself. I use many layers and layers of color to create depth and light. My painting technique is emotionally charged and passionate, and each work is a different experience.

I will be demonstrating my painting technique while engaging in conversations about the process and the Franklinton Arts District.
