Mary Barczak - Columbus Open Studio & Stage

There is ample street parking on either side of the boulevard. Once you arrive at the house, a volunteer will direct you to two separate studios, mine and Chris Tennant’s. Upstairs in my studio you will see both a photography and design layout studio as well as my wet-work studio. I will also have a display wall of current works available for purchase and will be doing Photoshop demos.

Mary Barczak brings her humor with her into all aspects of her life, including her art. Involvement with her community is incredibly important to her, and she’s partnered with many womens-based and freedom of speech-based organizations. Her hunger for knowledge is a driving force that is reflected in her love of the written word and improving her mind.

My paintings examine every day anonymity and the effect on society. By simplifying narratives and contrasting the complexity of human emotion, they offer an unapologetic viewpoint on life. This work questions how as humans there’s a vast array of reactions to similar situations, and explores how culture and experience color our views.

I will be creating work using Copic and watercolor markers.
