Jurate Phillips - Columbus Open Studio & Stage

After parking on the east side of 5th or either side of Moler, you’ll be directed through the garden gate to the left of the property, where you will be welcomed with homemade hors d’oeuvres and can peruse the mobile gallery set up. With warm apple cider in your hands you’ll then enter the studio through the back door, where you can explore, ask questions and observe firsthand the creation of one of my paintings.

Jurate Phillips grew up in Soviet-occupied Lithuania. After graduating from Siauliu University in Lithuania, she came to the United States in 1997 where she graduated from Columbus College of Art & Design in 2002. She lives in Merion Village with her husband and daughter.

My abstract landscapes are created using many layers of acrylic paint washes, glazes, pigments and inks. I am focused on capturing the feel and mood of a setting through the use of color and light.

I will demonstrate my signature painting techniques: applying acrylic paint layers with nontraditional painting methods using fingers, sticks, rags and collage.
