Printmaking, Mixed Media
As a child of the ‘80s, Donna McCarty-Estep’s nostalgia drives her creativity. Inspired by popular culture, she pulls inspiration from movies and literature to create portraits that evoke those same feelings in others. Donna uses a mix of stencil and direct painting; fun is both the purpose and the end result.
Art is…what? One word prevailing in my work is “fun.” The mixing of bright colorful stencil techniques with direct painting in acrylics and punctuated heavy black line work really makes it pop! Life is too brief for boring, mass-produced art. I hope that what I do will make others realize how important art is for our daily lives.
I will be working on several mixed media paintings over the course of the weekend.
