Chris Tennant - Columbus Open Studio & Stage

After parking on either side of the boulevard, you will be greeted at the door by a volunteer directing you to my basement studio. There you will see various paintings and sculptures both in process and complete, as well as a urethane slush casting demo. Be sure to visit Mary Barczak’s studio upstairs!

Chris Tennant studied fine arts at Columbus College of Art & Design, with a focus on painting and sculpture. Currently he works in Franklinton as a studio artist and 3D designer.

I appreciate the rich textures of new and old construction, the mending and erosion. Smooth new surfaces give way to fault lines leading to broken and torn edges. On top of these textured grounds I paint traditional observation realism.

I will be demonstrating cold cast bronze pours as well as oil painting throughout the day. Studio guests will get an opportunity to see the brushing of molds with bronze powder and the pouring of urethane to cast the sculpture. In between pours I will be working on a portrait painting for the upcoming Mugshot Effigy.
