Anne Spurgeon - Columbus Open Studio & Stage

Explore my studio in the neighborhood of North Linden. Easily park on the large driveway and enter through the opened garage door where you will be greeted by a volunteer. Once inside the studio, you can experiment with simple printmaking techniques and view my prints and sculptural work. I will provide light snacks and refreshments for you to enjoy while you tour my space.

Anne Spurgeon has exhibited nationally and internationally. Her work has been reviewed in publications such as The New York Times and The New York Times blog. She holds a BFA from The Ohio State University and a MFA from the School of Visual Arts.

Questions about transformation reoccur in my creative practice from playing guitar on stage, to creating private video performances about identity and the sense of the public and private self. In the past few years my focus has moved away from the personal consciousness of the body, to the transformation of sculptural materials.

I will demonstrate how to make stains using natural and accessible elements from your kitchen or garden. Visitors will be invited to have a drop-in and hands-on experience experimenting with items like coffee, turmeric and pureed beets.
