Melanie Stanley - Columbus Open Studio & Stage

I am located in a building that looks like a giant brick box, hence the name BrickBox Studios. Once you have parked through the gate in the back of the building, enter through the back door. You can also park on the street in front of the building and enter through the front door. There will be a volunteer who will direct you downstairs to my colorful basement studio space. I share this building with Heidi Heacock, Laurie Schmidt, Sheila Terry, Ramona Moon, Cory Mitan and Briden Schueren, so please also check them out!

Painting, Mixed Media

Melanie Stanley works in a wide variety of mediums and considers herself an abstract artist with a love and fascination for outsider and primitive art. She received a BFA from the Ohio State University and has been part of the Columbus art scene for several years.

“My goal is to get under the layers of paint, to gouge, scrape and dig with brushes, sticks, anything that shows me more than what is on the surface. I move it around, bend it some more, break and chip away until something says stop: ‘This is finished.'”
